What are cookies?
Cookies are text strings that websites visited by users (so-called Publishers or "first parties") or different sites or web servers (so-called "third parties") place and store within the user's terminal device, so that they can be retransmitted to the same sites upon the next visit. *

What are they used for?
Cookies are used for various purposes: performing IT authentications, session monitoring, storing information on specific configurations related to users accessing the server, storing preferences, or facilitating the use of online content, such as tracking items in a shopping cart or information for filling out a form, etc.; but they can also be used to profile the user, i.e., to "observe" their behavior, for example, to send targeted advertising, measure the effectiveness of the advertising message, and adopt subsequent commercial strategies. In this case, we are talking about profiling cookies. *

TECHNICAL COOKIES
They are generally necessary for the proper functioning of the website and to allow navigation; without them, you may not be able to view pages correctly or use certain services. For example, a technical cookie is essential to keep the user logged in throughout their visit to a website or to store language, display settings, and so on.

They are not used for further purposes and are usually installed directly by the website owner or manager.

For the installation of such cookies, the prior consent of users is not required.

These cookies are divided into:

  1. Essential cookies, strictly necessary for the functioning of the Site. Without the use of such cookies, some parts of the Site would not function. They include, for example, cookies that allow access to protected areas of the Site. These cookies do not collect information for marketing purposes and cannot be disabled;
  2. Session cookies, which are deleted immediately when the browsing session ends;
  3. Persistent cookies, which - unlike session cookies - remain in the browser for a specified period of time. They are used, for example, to recognize the device connecting to the site, facilitating authentication operations for the user;
  4. Analytical cookies, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site;
  5. Functionality cookies, which allow users to navigate based on a series of selected criteria (e.g., language, products selected for purchase) to improve the service provided.

PROFILING COOKIES
These cookies are used to profile the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user during their navigation.

THIRD-PARTY COOKIES
They are generated and managed by subjects other than the website manager on which the user is browsing (usually based on a contract between the website owner and the third party).

Are analytical cookies considered technical cookies?
Analytical cookies can be considered technical cookies if used for site optimization directly by the site owner, who can collect statistical information in aggregate form about the number of users and how they visit the site.

If, however, the processing of such statistical analyses is entrusted to third parties, user data must be minimized in advance and not combined with other processing or transmitted to additional third parties. Under these conditions, analytical cookies are subject to the same rules regarding information and consent as technical cookies. *
