AU Optronics Corp. (also known as AUO) is a company of global importance in the electronics sector. Established in September 2001 from the merger of Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation and Acer Display Technology Inc. It designs and produces TFT LCD technology displays for companies all over the world, from small formats for cell phones and smartphones, up to large formats for televisions, for PC and notebook displays. It supplies its products to many companies, such as Apple, Philips, Samsung and Sony.
